Come out to help protect Swallowtail Grove
at our first work party of the summer
Swallowtail Grove is a garden located in the east corner of Greenway Park that contains plants native to this area which are required by our native butterflies. The garden has flourished since it's planting in 2006 and the many species of butterflies, bees and other insects commonly found there are living testimony to it's vital habitat value.
Swallowtail Grove was planted and is maintained by Friends of the Coves staff and volunteers who meet a few times throughout the summer to pull unwanted plants invading the garden and spread mulch to keep them at bay. These are informal, leisurely work parties usually lasting about an hour where questions and sharing of knowledge of native plants and invasive, non-native plants are encouraged. Gardeners of all experience levels are welcome.
