Cleaning up after the snowstorm

A white blanket of snow was a surprise for many crawling out of bed on Wednesday morning. For many there were more surprises waiting for them as they went outside to find their trees were damaged by the storm.

What should you do???

  • Stay away from any downed wires or brush that has fallen onto wires and wait for them to be safely removed by professionals.
  • Phone a professional tree company if you have trees on your private property with wounds or broken material that's still attached. Tree injuries can result in long term damage or even death so seeking out proper care for your injured tree, rather than doing a quick, amateur job, is the best way to go.
  • Trees on City property will be tended to by city workers or city-hired contractors
  • All brush from private trees should be handled in the usual way - bundled and placed at the curb during regular Yard Material Curbside Collection Weeks as indicated on the Waste Reduction & Conservation Calender. There are also four depots across the City where larger brush can be dropped off - find locations HERE.
