Go Green in Your Garden

Through this project we offer the following products and services:

Green Garden Visits: This service is available to all members of Friends of the Coves Subwatershed living in the Coves Subwatershed. See a map of the Coves Subwatershed to see if your property is in it. We are currently unable to offer this service to members outside of the Coves Subwatershed. Our Green Garden Advisor will visit your property and provide helpful advice on native plant gardening, natural weed and pest control, rain barrel set-up, water conservation, and composting.

Free Fact Sheets: Free fact sheets are available on a wide range of "green" topics, including native plants, natural lawn care, composting and more. You can find fact sheets under Project Resources to the right, at the Friends of the Coves office (111 Elmwood Ave. E) or at our permanent display in the lower hall of Landon Library (167 Wortley Rd.).

Rain Barrels and Composters: These can be purchased when available by members for a discounted price. We purchase barrels that are locally produced and composters made from 100% recycled materials. Contact the office to inquire about availability.

Native Plants: Native plants grown from responsibly collected local seed sources are, unfortunately, rarely found in mainstream nurseries. See the Native Plant Nurseries Guide under Project Resources to the right for several great options within an hours drive of London. Where there is sufficient interest among members, we will coordinate bulk orders of native plants from a nursery to save money and produce less emissions from multiple people driving out separately to buy plants. Please let us know if you are planning to make a purchase and interested in joining a bulk order (early spring or fall would be the prime times for this.

Workshops: We offer seasonal workshops on Green Garden topics such as native plant gardening, natural lawn care, and getting your garden ready for winter. Our workshops are held at the Landon Library on Wortley Road. Please check the events listing on our homepage for upcoming workshops.
